Okay, a couple of questions first: Have you heard about the rules against unclean meat? And about how unclean meat can make your soul unclean and unfit for entry into Heaven?

Yes, when I first started studying the verses of the Bible in 2010, I read about it for the very first time. I read some more, and articles written both pro and con. My biggest takeaway was that nobody said the obvious: whether you are pro or con, WHY RISK IT?  To me Heaven is the ultimate gift, and the thought that I would ignore the very words of the Bible just to satisfy an earthly desire for the taste of forbidden flesh. No Way! Bacon ain"t worth baking (in Hell)

Go to the "More" arrow above and select the My Early Readings page to get both the pro arguments, and the con arguments. I think that the CONs are purposefully misleading us. The Bible says that Satan will do just that.

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

But it gets even worse, some Bibles have been printed and their words are totally misconscruing the original text. Here is Mark 7:18-23 from three versions of the Bible, King James, American Standard, and New International:

Pay close attention to verse 19:

Mark 7:18-22King James Version

18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

----------------

Mark 7:18-22American Standard Version

18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Perceive ye not, that whatsoever from without goeth into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? This he said, making all meats clean. 20 And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, [a]evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, 22 covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness:

 --------------

Mark 7:18-22New International Version

18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.

I bought a book on Amazon entitled "The New Testament - Translated From the Original Greek ... " by Leicester A. Sawyer

I won't quote the entire section, but Mark 7:18-20 reads "And he said to them, Are you also so without understanding? Do you not understand that nothing which enters into a man from without can defile him, because it enters not into his heart, but into the stomach, and goes out to the earth, purifying all aliments? But he said, that which comes out of the man, this defiles him;"

Any mention of Jesus declaring all foods clean is from the publisher or the translator. The KJV Bible is closest to the truth, the others are meant to lead us astray.

Another notable detail is the origin of the first edict issued by the Church okaying the consumption of unclean meats. The edict was historically  issued by Bishop Eleutherius from his church in Rome in the year 170 a.d.  You can get further details in section "Historical Figures" on this website. But I have noted the most important part here:

The 6th-century recension of Liber Pontificalis ('Book of the Popes') known as the "Felician Catalog"[b] includes additional commentary to the work's earlier entry on Eleutherius. One addition ascribes to Eleutherius the reissuance of a decree:[c][4] "And he again affirmed that no food should be repudiated by Christians strong in their faith, as God created it, [provided] however that it is sensible and edible." Such a decree might have been issued against early continuations of Jewish dietary law and against similar laws practiced by the Gnostics and Montanists. It is also possible, however, that the editor of the passage attributed to Eleutherius a decree similar to another issued around the year 500 in order to give it greater authority. "

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just a thought, as I researched the diet of the Romans in the 2nd century, I noticed that a large portion (>50%) of their daily meat intake was unclean meat including pork, dormouse, giraffe, and octopus. I wonder if Eleutherius found it easier to change the Laws of Moses than to change the diet of the Romans.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUPER SUPER IMPORTANT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the Council of Jerusalem in 60 A.D. the apostles and church leaders were discussing the rules for all the new Gentile believers in Jesus Christ. Paul didn't want to burden them with entire list of Moses's Laws. He thought it better to highlight the most important, since they would hear ALL of the laws on each Sabbath at the churches and synagogues where services were held.

Paul says in Acts 15:19-21

"It is my judgement, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning   to God. Instead, we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is still read in the synagogues on every Sabbath"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I find these verses to be important because, they were written in A.D. 60, 27 years after the Resurrection of Our Lord. If the Second Covenant included changing the dietary laws of Moses, why is Apostle Paul citing dietary law to be taught to the new converts?

In fact, nowhere in the Bible do you find Jesus telling anyone that unclean meats are now okay. Even the books of the New Testament written by the apostles do not mention the New Covenant making unclean meat safe to eat.

Why is this? I'm glad you asked. Because the Second Covenant was about writing God's wishes on the hearts of all the followers of Jesus, and Jesus's sacrifice of his life would make any other sacrifices unnecessary, since His was the Ultimate Sacrifice.

Now that you see what  influenced my distaste for unclean meat, you can see my conjecture as to why God enforces this rules against unclean meats in the section "My Conjectures" on this website.

Under the section "My Early Readings" you will find the arguments made for eating unclean meats, and the arguments made by people other than myself.
